What is an ActiveX Object and How Is It Linked to Computer Errors?

What does an ActiveX Object do?In the simplest language possible, an ActiveX Object is a special program created by Microsoft to allow a number of functions to operate within multiple applications.  Unfortunately, they can often cause computer errors as well.

For example, if you create a webpage that displays various kinds of data and you want to correct that webpage as well as the original data, you can do that in one location and the program will expand the correction to the web version.

When is ActiveX used? When you want to use the data in a remote location you need to create a link between both machines.  When creating an object on a remotely networked computer, you pass the name of the computer to the server name argument of the ActiveX Object.  If the remote location can’t be found, then an error is generated.

Behold! ActiveX errors.Because ActiveX allows you to run programs from the internet you will always be asked to confirm their use.  It isn’t uncommon to find viruses and other nasties hiding inside an ActiveX operation.  When this happens to your computer you will find that it runs slower, displays a great deal of ActiveX errors and in general, frustrates the heck out of you.

One Way to Get a Cleaner Computer Fortunately there are two good ways to fix ActiveX errors.  Find your control panel and click upon the “internet options” panel.  Open security and then proceed to the custom level.  Find the ActiveX section and set “Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting” and “Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins” as enabled and then mark all the rest of the settings as prompt.

Many ActiveX errors are caused by errors or missing programs in the system registry.  If you suspect this to be the source of your problems you might want to consider a simpler option than finding each error manually and trying to repair it.

Another, easier solution for your computer errors.

When errors strike via ActiveX object and your whole systems starts slowing down the problem is usually deeper than a simple setting change.  At this point your best option is to find a good registry cleaner.  A registry cleaner does so much more than just tidy up the operating systems registry, and it fixes many different types of errors.

There are many different types of registry cleaners out there.  The good ones are available for less than an hour of a PC technician’s time, and they usually take about fifteen minutes (at most) to give you a cleaner computer.
