Wexford Medical devices supplier ClearStream Technologies saw its profits declining heavily. The company’s pre-tax profit contracted roughly by 75 percent to €500,000 in the year to the end of July.
The company believes that the decline was mainly due to a one-off exceptional gain of €1.4 million recorded in the earlier financial year. The 2010 results were in line with anticipations at the trading level, the company added.
In 2009, revenues increased from €13.9 million to €15.1 million. However, the company is confident of group sales growth in the years ahead.
ClearStream Technologies is an innovative developer and maker of minimally invasive medical devices like catheters and stents. These are employed in interventional procedures such as angioplasty. Angioplasty catheters are used to clear blocked arteries and stents. They are permanently implanted devices used to prevent prolapse of the artery following the angioplasty procedure.
ClearStream’s products are marketed under the ClearStream brands name through a network of international distributors. The company’s catheters are also available on an OEM supply basis. ClearStream is mainly committed to continued investment in research and development. This will offer the company a full and balanced product pipeline between its coronary and peripheral devices. It is situated in Co.
Wexford on Ireland’s Southeast coast and listed on London’s AIM market. Due to this recent decline, ClearStream traded at a loss in the first half due to reorganization. This saw the group re-engineer its manufacturing and production facilities and recruit additional staff.
