Diversification in career is very important. When you buy stock, you diversify because you will be at very high risk if you didn’t diversify. This is the same with career. You have to diversify as much as possible. If you don’t diversify, you will sit at home waiting for a job in your field, where it might be very little jobs available. You have to learn many skills and do as much as possible to keep up with everything. If you only know one thing and do one thing then you’re in trouble.

It’s just smart to diversify. You should diversify as much as possible. It doesn’t hurt to know a lot of skills. You have to train yourself in many fields so you can take care of yourself and your family. For example, during this recession, many people fall behind, because they don’t know a lot of skills. They only know one or two skills. When you’re done with your college, you should also take sometimes to learn some additional skills so you can work on the side and make money. If you don’t, you will be stuck when your field is in lesser demand or even become obsolete. A lot of fields are obsolete due to the advancement of technology. Newspaper companies are out of business and a lot of other companies are just out of business. People go online for everything nowadays. So you have to train yourself in a field that will not be out competing by technology.
