There are two forms of internet connection. One is Dial up and another is broadband. The dial up internet connection uses the traditional phone line to get entered into the internet line. This type of internet connection is not able to provide sufficient speed to the user. The broadband internet connection is able to provide higher speed internet connection to the user than dial up method. It is also able to carry more space of data than the dial up can do.

The latest and new version of this broadband technology is able to transmit 30 mbs in every second but the ability of the dial up is not more than 56 kbs per second. Beside this the broadband connection is also cost effective due to its high speed of data transfer capability.

But as a matter of fact this outstanding service of broadband internet is not available for all. People who live in the rural areas are not able to get this service yet. In many countries the relating ministry department feels the necessity of broadband connection. So, hopefully within few years this facility will reach to every towns and villages also.

Whatever, the broadband internet service brings a great change in the world of technology. The taste of internet surfing has been changed due to this outstanding speed facility. You can get broadband internet service from your local internet service provider if they have this facility. They are able to provide you broadband service instead of some monthly fees. The fees may be varied due to types of service, bandwidth, sharing speed etc. The piece of this service can also vary depending upon geographical option and connectivity of your area also.

These are the days of speeds. Everyone is busy now. So, in these speedy days you must be a speedy one to win the race of life. A broadband internet connection is able to make you speedy.

With the advent of the internet technology, the days are gone when you had to rely on the slow internet connection to access the cyberspace. Kids had to visit the library when they had reports or research to do. This can be a limited location for information too.

Fast-forward to today, wireless internet access is now not only limited to computers, a whole plethora of consumer electronic products are using the wireless standards to get connected to the internet. Clear, AT&T and Verizon are just examples of broadband wireless internet service providers that make it possible for mobile phones to connect to the internet,

Amazing how in just a short couple of years the internet has become a worldwide phenomenon. Connecting people from different walks of life and from different parts of the world to one global community,

There are many nostalgic about the early days of the World Wide Web when internet anonymity was common sense.

But, as everyone knows, “there is no gain without pain”. Today, anonymous web surfing is something that requires a little effort to achieve.

Many people are missing the beginnings of the internet era when no one worried about online data fraud and about securing private information. It is when you open an unknown sender’s mail and click on the link that is given in the mail that you have thrown your system open to spy ware and virus attacks.

Now you need not buy medicines for your pets from the pharmacy across vet’s clinic. You can get all types of prescription medicines for the animals online and at cheaper rates than what you find in your local market.

Online privacy means browsing the web without disclosing personal information about yourself, which isn’t always easy to do,Even here, when the title is no contract broadband, it’s in somewhat bad faith since very few providers are actually offering home broadband access with no contract at all.

Of all the problems that people have with their home internet connections ‘too fast’ certainly isn’t in the top 10.Most counties enable private citizens to view their community information at no expense.

Though a lot of consumer data files are readily available via the internet,

Modern Traffic Management Centers (TMC’s) are typically using HD IP video cameras for incident management and adaptive signal control. If you are facing problems like slow inet speed or frequent disconnection on your existing internet connection, you need to switch over to high speed internet connection such as cable internet or wireless internet. You should research well while searching for a reliable internet connection.

Over the last few years, as broadband internet connectivity has become quite popular in both rural and urban areas. Plus,

there has been a rapid take-up of this service amongst business owners to access the Internet quickly and consistently,

download files faster and send and receive emails without hassle.

Here are some of the benefits of business broadband plans:

High Speed:

A business broadband internet connection can easily send & receive data of high capacity. And that too without the long wait

which usually happens with a conventional dial up connection. It’s a fact that business broadband services are almost 9 times

faster as compared to a dial-up connection for receiving data and 3 or 4 times quicker for sending data.

Lower Contention Ratio:

With a business broadband plan you get to enjoy a lower contention ratio than home broadband connection. This means you get

faster download speeds and a more stable connection when users share the same line. With business broadband Internet plan you

will never have to worry about slow connection speeds at peak traffic times.Greater Value:

Business broadband internet provides a free domain name and a static IP address. This helps small businesses to create their

own content with their own name. With a static IP address, users can access their PC anywhere in the world and run their own

email server, web server and private network.

High Reliability:

Business broadband offers far greater support than home broadband. In this highly competitive online platform, an unreliable

internet connection can cost your business a lot. And with broadband internet connection you get 24/7 uninterrupted

connection and don’t need to dial up a connection every time you want to surf the web, send email etc. Plus, as broadband

Internet allows using your telephone and the Internet at the same time it becomes highly beneficial when used for business

purpose.

Increase in Sales:

With the help of broadband Internet connection you can update for website faster, respond to events, customer requests

quickly and complete your online deals faster. This can help in increasing the overall sales of your company or business.

Cost Effective:

For using a broadband internet plan you need to pay once in a month. As the cost of a broadband Internet connection is fixed

one plan for the expenses more easily. More of your employees can be connected to broadband internet without increasing your

Internet cost.

Reduce Travel Costs:

With broadband Internet connection you are in a position to allow your employees to even work from home (telework). This way

the urgent works that are important for your company’s success can never get delayed.

More Online Business:

With good broadband services you get to utilize e-marketing, e-sales, e-delivery, e-recording, e-invoicing, e-accounting and

e-purchasing. All these surely help in getting more business online.

Increase productivity and competitiveness:

Faster transfer of data files between far away locations, enables a faster communication between you and your customers. In

the long run, this helps in increasing the productivity level of your business.

All these benefits enhance the Internet surfing experience in a business atmosphere. The benefits of broadband Internet far

outnumber any other mode of Internet connection. And this is why even it is bit costly as compared to other types of

broadband connection; business owners are looking for broadband internet provider.

For most of the British public, the internet began in the 1990’s where it was estimated that the internet grew by 100% per year. It was in the year 2000 when the UK was first introduced to broadband, although the majority of broadband users came from large companies, due to the high cost, the situation now is very different as consumers can buy broadband for as little as £10 per month.

The difference between broadband and dialup is very small in price but broadband speeds can be significantly faster. This will gradually force dialup connections to extinction. According to BT, broadband is now available in 99.6% of households in the UK, 65% of UK households have an internet connection, and of those with internet, 55% are broadband connections.

This may all sound great, but that is far from the truth on a global scale. The Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development’s (OECD) examined broadband services in 30 countries worldwide this year, concluding that the UK is in fact, in the bottom third of the list. Japan was found to have the cheapest price for broadband at 11p per megabyte, while also proving to be the fastest with speeds of 100 megabyte per second. The UK’s cheapest broadband comes out at £1.81 per megabyte with speeds of up to 26 megabytes per second (but only in very limited areas).

So what’s next? Well according to some, we may not need to invest highly in broadband technology after all.

To play catch up in broadband speeds by investing in infrastructure would cost the UK a lot of money. BT are investing in creating a UK-wide fibre optic network that could deliver superfast speeds of 100Mb, but is it worth it? Yes, but only if the internet stays as a World Wide Network.

Researchers in the US are looking to invest $350m not on broadband technology but towards what claims to be the successor to the internet. Similarities can be found in Europe where the EU’s Future and Internet Research (F.I.R.E.) programme plan to invest money on the ‘new internet’. This has led to suggestions that the internet will be regionalised, therefore, the end of “www”. For someone in Europe wanting to access networks in America or Asia would have to pay more than someone wanting to browse within the EU.

The future of the internet is difficult to judge, with timescales of 10-15 years, these claims are still at the earliest of stages, till then; we just need to wait and see.

If you are interested in taking advantage of current broadband technology, then you should compare all the broadband providers available in your area.

Wireless broadband is fast becoming the most popular way to connect to the internet. With most broadband providers now offering packages that include a free wireless router or one at discounted price, and most laptops now come with an integrated wireless receiver. This makes the ideal opportunity to take advantage of wireless broadband.

Wireless broadband works by your router sending a signal throughout your house and beyond; it doesn’t just stop at where your laptop is. With an indoor range of around 30-45 metres, this signal may be picked up by your neighbour too, allowing them to benefit from your broadband.

Someone else using your wireless broadband can be extremely dangerous in a sense that not only can that person access your broadband, that person can also;

•	Slow down your internet performance

•	View files on your computer and spread dangerous viruses

•	Look at the websites you visit, read your emails and copy your usernames and passwords

•	Send spam or perform illegal activities with your broadband connection

To prevent this only takes a few minutes, you can protect your wireless broadband connection the same way that banks protect your password when you log onto their websites. This method is called encryption; this is scrambled data on your wireless broadband network that only computers with an encryption key can read your communications.

To protect your wireless broadband network; follow these steps:

1.	Login to the control panel of your router/wireless modem; details are usually found in the documentation supplied with your router/wireless modem.

2.	Make sure a 128bit WEP Key is on your router.

3.	Change the default username and password on your router immediately after you turn it on.

4.	Close all ports on your router (if any are open).

5.	Make sure the DMZ is inactive

6.	If you can turn ping responses off on your router, do so

7.	Change the SSID (router name) of your router to something you will recognise, but choose something that does not relate to you, your broadband provider or the manufacturer of the router.

To set up your PC/Laptop, follow these steps:

1.	Make sure that the SSID (router name) is not the same as your PC/Laptops name.

2.	Make sure your PC/Laptop has a secure password that contains numbers as well as letters. Make sure that it very difficult to guess your password

3.	Do not store any personal information on your PC/Laptop like bank details, bills, credit card numbers etc.

Additional advice is to change your WEP Key once a month to disable potential threats gaining access to your broadband. This WEP Key can be configured automatically.

So make sure your secured and not given others access to free broadband.

If you are interested in taking advantage of current broadband internet technology then you should compare many broadband providers available in your area.

A recent summit, chaired by Stephen Timms – the Minister of State for Competitiveness – brought together broadband industry leaders, as well as representatives from governing body OFCOM and the Broadband Stakeholder Group (BSG)

The summit focused on the need for a battle plan to implement next-generation broadband access (NGA) in order to pave the way for ultra-fast broadband in the UK. With the numbers of broadband users increasing, so the demand for a faster and more reliable connection has become a key talking point in the future of the UK economy.

With the UK currently lagging behind countries such as Japan, France and Sweden when it comes to download speed, Mr Timms acknowledged the need for an improvement in services and more pilot schemes to improve existing services.

The summit also heard how other countries were moving more quickly to introduce and develop ultra-fast broadband networks – capable of delivering speeds of up to 100Mbps. Virgin are currently piloting a scheme which would utilise a 50mbps (megabits per second) broadband service – which they expect to launch before the end of 2008.

According to a survey carried out by OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-ordination and Development) – Japan are currently leading the way when it comes to download speed, and Mr Timms acknowledged that steps need to be taken to ensure the UK does not fall behind, for any delay in implementing such steps could have an effect on the economy in future.

Mr Timms highlighted the need for investment to improve the existing network, which BT are already spending £10bn to upgrade and improve existing services, it is estimated that it could cost £15bn to roll out an upgraded fibre network.

But despite some questioning as to the justification of the demand for high-speed broadband technology, the summit outlined the importance of ultra-fast broadband technology, pinpointing the economic effect such a commitment could have.

With broadband connection present in more than half of all UK homes, with an average speed of 4Mbps, broadband technology is becoming a key part in people’s lives as well as businesses. With a wide range of cheap broadband providers now available, the demand for such technology has increased over recent years. If the Virgin pilot scheme is deemed a success upon rollout at the end of next year, who knows what the future holds for broadband in the UK?

Broadband has been a huge success in the UK, with half of all UK homes now with access to a connection.

But with a consumer call for a faster and more reliable service, and connection speeds falling behind countries like Japan and Sweden, suggested changes raised in a recent summit in London to discuss the future of broadband in the UK are still dividing opinion.

Plans for a future download speed of 24Mbps may seem fast for us, but with other countries around the world offering broadband deals, with connection speeds ranging from 40Mbps to even 100Mbps, could a change in infrastructure prove a turning point for broadband in the UK?

With the current broadband network based mostly on ADSL – a copper wire network designed to handle telephone calls – the demand for an increase in broadband speed could push the hardware to its limits. Other issues include noise on the line and falling connection speeds – causes for such disruption can include distance from the exchange and an increase in traffic on the network.

One of the issues facing any future plans for a fibre network in the UK would be ensuring that it would be open to all ISPs in much the same way as with LLU (Local Loop Unbundling) – which allows other cheap broadband providers the chance to put their services in BT telephone exchanges. But even getting to that stage has been a long and complicated process, and with the demand for more cheap broadband increasing each year – a change in infrastructure could been seen as a way forward and ensure that the UK is compatible with the ever-changing Internet.

A new method of unbundling – known as sub-loop unbundling – could be necessary to the introduction of a fibre network, but would require operators to share space in street cabinets, which some believe to be unfeasible. There are also concerns that fibre networks would create another digital divide – much like the current scenario when it comes to rural broadband technology.

Wireless solutions such as Wimax could be seen to be a temporary solution, but there has been a widespread call for more government funding to help the progression of UK broadband, particularly to those in remote areas of the UK. Fibre connections would provide opportunities for a faster connection that would be welcomed by online gamers, networks which share video content, as well as the chance of delivering high-definition content – such as HDTV – via a broadband connection.

But with a number of problems still to be sorted within the existing broadband network – such as complications with ISP migration and actual connection speeds promised in broadband deals – the future of broadband in the UK remains an area of uncertainty.

A recent survey – carried out by a popular broadband advice site – focused on what consumers may want from a next-generation broadband connection. The results showed that net users identified the ability to download high-quality films as quickly as possible as the service that they want most out of next-generation broadband services.

Over 61% of those surveyed rated downloading DVD-quality films as the service that would be considered the most interesting when it came to next-generation broadband. Some 18% of users said they downloaded films, although it was the area of online activity that had the least time dedicated to it.

Of those questioned in the survey, a number of services that would be welcomed as a result of next-generation broadband were identified as a result, including:
