Multimedia and Technology

Article by Anthony W

Multimedia has emerged as a great evolutionary change in entertainment and technology. There are many components to be evaluated on basis of which we can measure correspondence effect of changing multimedia & technology. There are various forms of multimedia by which we can entertain in a variety of ways. These forms are text, voice, video, images, animation, special effects and much more. Multimedia is media and content that utilizes a combination of different content forms. In short, multimedia includes a combination of text, audio, still images, animation, video, and interactivity content forms. Multimedia is usually recorded and played, displayed or accessed by information content processing devices, such as computerized and electronic devices, but can also be part of a live performance. The term rich media is synonymous for interactive multimedia. Hypermedia can be considered one particular multimedia application. Multimedia presentations may be viewed in person on stage, projected, transmitted, or played locally with a media player. A broadcast may be a live or recorded multimedia presentation. Broadcasts and recordings can be either analog or digital electronic media technology. Digital online multimedia may be downloaded or streamed. Streaming multimedia may be live or on-demand. Multimedia is often published by broadcasting it onto internet or spreading over news to reach to desired people.

Many television channels are now trying to increase their TRP by giving impact more on multimedia contents like advertisements, songs competition, video songs and animated clips, films. Enhanced levels of interactivity are made possible by combining multiple forms of media content. Online multimedia is increasingly becoming object-oriented and data-driven, enabling applications with collaborative end-user innovation and personalization on multiple forms of content over time. Emerging technology involving illusions of taste and smell may also enhance the multimedia experience. In this kind of multimedia, user will experience and feel all those emotions, taste and smell. This is why its important that word multimedia is used exclusively to describe multiple forms of media and content. Multimedia leaves its impact on many other fields.Multimedia finds its application in various areas including, but not limited to, advertisements, art, education, entertainment, engineering, medicine, mathematics, business, scientific research and spatial temporal applications. Some examples are as follows: Creative industries: Creative industries use multimedia for a variety of purposes ranging from fine arts, to entertainment, to commercial art, to journalism and software provided for any of the industries listed below. What a Miracle! Changing Water to Gas

Using water as gas supplement for vehicles is an emerging technology. People using this kind of system is claiming that they were able to improve their gas mileage almost up to 60%, making them able to save hundreds of dollars within a year on gas alone.

More and more people are getting intrigued by this technology. The main companies selling this system, would include in their package different parts to install on your car to be able to use water on your engine. They would include hydrogen generators or electrolyzers and other car parts. But is this really possible? Can water really be changed into a fuel supplement for gasoline that would enable your vehicle to run smoother?

With the water to gas technology, HHO, also called hydroxy or Brown’s gas is used to supplement its fuel. It doesn’t mean that you would have to put a water hose into your gas tank and use it as fuel. HHO is also called oxyhydrogen and contains a mixture of hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2). Chemist William Nicholson was the first person to decompose or separate water into its component gasses back in 1800s.

Oxyhydrogen will burn up when brought to its kindling point. Kindling point will be the lowest temperature wherein a substance will spontaneously ignite without the need for a spark or flame. When ignited, oxyhydrogen will convert into water vapour and then will release its energy.

This concept was applied on lights. Oxyhydrogen lamps, like the limelight, is using an oxyhydrogen flame to heat a piece of lime to give light. Another product is the oxyhydrogen torch. This torch is an oxy-gas torch. It burns hydrogen with oxygen. This equipment is used for cutting and welding metals, glass and thermoplastics. The flame begins a short distance from the tip of the torch; if the distance is great enough the torch tip can remain cool. Oxyhydrogen is also claimed to increase the efficiency in automotive engines. One liter of water is said to creat 1860 gallons of oxhydrogen.

So why use the name Brown’s gas for oxyhydrogen? Oxyhydrogen gas produced by a common-ducted electrolyzer has been referred to to as Brown’s Gas. It was named after Yull Brown who received a patent for a series cell common ducted electrolyzer made in 1977 and 1978. Actually, Brown’s gas is not used in his patents, the gas produced has been referred to “ a mixture of oxygen and hydrogen”. Brown’s Gas also claims that it can be used for the following applications although further research may be required:

1.Air conditioning and cooling
2. Atmospheric motors
3. Cleansing of smokestack
4. Coal to Oil conversion
5. Curing
6. Deep-sea life support
7. Destruction of toxic wastes
8. Drying of fruit and legumes
9. Fuel Cell
10. Glazing and Kiln operation
11. Graphite production
12. Heating
13. Hydrogen production
14. Mineral separation
15. Nuclear waste decontamination
16. Ore separation
17. Oxygen production
18. Production of hard materials
19. Production of electricity
20. Pure water production
21. Silica conversion
22. Space life support
23. Underwater welding
24. Vacuum systems
25. Water pumps
26. Welding and brazing

There could numerous ways this water to gas technology can be used. Numerous ways that could make our lifestyle more efficient and less costly. But the road to discovery is a very hard road. It took decades before this technology was made available for us. Hopefully, it would take that long too just to be able to prove and provide other ways to use and benefit from this technology.

New Technologies Hindering Economic Progess in 2010?

Article by Andrew Gallagher

Leader of the U.S, Barack Obama has acknowledged the incursion of ongoing technologies for 2010 such as the ipad, not holding back in using brand names and an overload of information on blogs, and networking websites, has been bad for the economy and democracy as paraphrased on the economist magazine. President Obama though, is joined to his blackberry like a surgical incision. The “distractions” talked about are not good for a thriving nation, has been an age old theme among many polititions since the beginning of writing instead of word of mouth, and as viewed upon by some theorists explaining that with every expand in technological achievements comes with a loss in human and social interaction.

The social media increase has served as a instrument to make history in that opinionated arena, using youtube, blogs, twitter, and myspace to capitalize on many ways of reaching now many increasing age groups, even in this cutting back economy.

Its pretty much an obvious decision to get involved in the emerging technologies. You need to go out and reach your audience in this space in order to be productive in your marketing, no matter what type of campaign you are running in a downward modern economy.

Likewise just internet advertising, cell phone advertising should reach mammoth proportions, not just in apps used on cellular phones as a list of new technologies for 2010 emerges, but also by text messages used for promoting all sorts of products and services. The haiti trajedy was the first of many cell phone campaigns to come in the future used by large and soon small businesses as the mobile advertising market could be worth more than 3 billion by 2013. Buying by big players such as the major search engine and Apple of mobile companies that focus in the sms advertising market make this a truly hopeful year of mobile marketing. I think we’ll shall hear of text communication business cards and mobile opt-in lists becoming standard for many companies.

Some will surely like to rebel and reject from facebook for a many reasons related to privacy issues and cost of surely wanting to have a profile on facebook but I don’t see this thwarting the expansion of facebook or social media itself as individuals depend more or less on this type of communication.

The technologies that hinder with distractions are the same ones that bring new education, awareness, and research that can be done faster than ever before and reach more audiences with important information that anyone can not overlook.

We all have the capability to decide where our eyes are whether that is on the computer or the cell phone, and can opt into whatever list we want with the free will to make an informativce decision on what information is crucial and what is just gossip and overload.

An information and interrupting course will continue in our times as things do not slow down but speed up.

Haarp Technology

HAARP

It’s not only greenhouse gas emissions: Washington’s new world order weapons have the ability to trigger climate change.

By Michel Chossudovsky – Professor of Economics, University of Ottawa and TFF associate, author of The Globalization of Poverty, second edition, Common Courage Press The important debate on global warming under UN auspices provides but a partial picture of climate change; in addition to the devastating impacts of greenhouse gas emissions on the ozone layer, the World’s climate can now be modified as part of a new generation of sophisticated “non-lethal weapons.” Both the Americans and the Russians have developed capabilities to manipulate the World’s climate.

In the US, the technology is being perfected under the High-frequency Active Aural Research Program (HAARP) as part of the (“Star Wars”) Strategic Defence Initiative (SDI). Recent scientific evidence suggests that HAARP is fully operational and has the ability of potentially triggering floods, droughts, hurricanes and earthquakes.

HAARP IS A MASS DESTRUCTIVE WEAPON – NOT PART OF ANY NEGOTIATIONS

From a military standpoint, HAARP is a weapon of mass destruction. Potentially, it constitutes an instrument of conquest capable of selectively destabilising agricultural and ecological systems of entire regions.

While there is no evidence that this deadly technology has been used, surely the United Nations should be  addressing the issue of “environmental warfare” alongside the debate on the climatic impacts of greenhouse gases.

Despite a vast body of scientific knowledge, the issue of deliberate climatic manipulations for military use has never been explicitly part of the UN agenda on climate change. Neither the official delegations nor the environmental action groups participating in the Hague Conference on Climate Change (CO6) (November 2000) have raised the broad issue of “weather warfare” or “environmental modification techniques (ENMOD)” as relevant to an understanding of climate change.

The clash between official negotiators, environmentalists and American business lobbies has centered on Washington’s outright refusal to abide by commitments on carbon dioxide reduction targets under the 1997 Kyoto protocol. The impacts of military technologies on the World’s climate are not an object of discussion or concern. Narrowly confined to greenhouse gases, the ongoing debate on climate change serves Washington’s strategic and defense objectives.

“WEATHER WARFARE”

World renowned scientist Dr. Rosalie Bertell confirms that “US military scientists are working on weather systems as a potential weapon. The methods include the enhancing of storms and the diverting of vapor rivers in the Earth’s atmosphere to produce targeted droughts or floods. Already in the 1970s, former National Security advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski had foreseen in his book “Between Two Ages” that: “Technology will make available, to the leaders of major nations, techniques for conducting secret warfare, of which only a bare minimum of the security forces need be appraised… Techniques of weather modification could be employed to produce prolonged periods of drought or storm. ”

Marc Filterman, a former French military officer, outlines several types of “unconventional weapons” using radio frequencies. He refers to “weather war,” indicating that the U.S. and the Soviet Union had already “mastered the know-how needed to unleash sudden climate changes (hurricanes, drought) in the early 1980s.” These technologies make it “possible to trigger atmospheric disturbances by using Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) radar [waves].”

A simulation study of future defense “scenarios” commissioned for the US Air Force calls for: “US aerospace forces to ‘own the weather’ by capitalizing on emerging technologies and focusing development of those technologies to war-fighting applications.” From enhancing friendly operations or disrupting those of the enemy via small-scale tailoring of natural weather patterns to complete dominance of global communications and counterspace control, weather-modification offers the war fighter a wide-range of possible options to defeat or coerce an adversary. In the United States, weather-modification will likely become a part of national security policy with both domestic and international applications. Our government will pursue such a policy, depending on its interests, at various levels.

THE HIGH-FREQUENCY ACTIVE AURAL RESEARCH PROGRAM – HAARP

The High-Frequency Active Aural Research Program (HAARP) based in Gokoma Alaska-jointly managed by the US Air Force and the US Navy-is part of a new generation of sophisticated weaponry under the US Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI). Operated by the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Space Vehicles Directorate, HAARP constitutes a system of powerful antennas capable of creating “controlled local modifications of the ionosphere”.

Scientist Dr. Nicholas Begich-actively involved in the public campaign against HAARP-describes HAARP as: “A super-powerful radiowave-beaming technology that lifts areas of the ionosphere (upper layer of the atmosphere) by focusing a beam and heating those areas. Electromagnetic waves then bounce back onto earth and penetrate everything-living and dead.”

Dr. Rosalie Bertell depicts HAARP as “a gigantic heater that can cause major disruption in the ionosphere, creating not just holes, but long incisions in the protective layer that keeps deadly radiation from bombarding the planet.”

MISLEADING PUBLIC OPINION

HAARP has been presented to public opinion as a program of scientific and academic research. US military documents seem to suggest, however, that HAARP’s main objective is to “exploit the ionosphere for Department of Defense purposes.” Without explicitly referring to the HAARP program, a US Air Force study points to the use of “induced ionospheric modifications” as a means of altering weather patterns as well as disrupting enemy communications and radar.

According to Dr. Rosalie Bertell, HAARP is part of a integrated weapons’ system, which has potentially devastating environmental consequences: “It is related to fifty years of intensive and increasingly destructive programs to understand and control the upper atmosphere. It would be rash not to associate HAARP with the space laboratory construction which is separately being planned by the United States. HAARP is an integral part of a long history of space research and development of a deliberate military nature.

The military implications of combining these projects is alarming. The ability of the HAARP / Spacelab/ rocket combination to deliver very large amount of energy, comparable to a nuclear bomb, anywhere on earth via laser and particle beams, are frightening. The project is likely to be “sold” to the public as a space shield against incoming weapons, or, for the more gullible, a device for repairing the ozone layer.

In addition to weather manipulation, HAARP has a number of related uses: “HAARP could contribute to climate change by intensively bombarding the atmosphere with high-frequency rays. Returning low-frequency waves at high intensity could also affect people’s brains, and effects on tectonic movements cannot be ruled out.

More generally, HAARP has the ability of modifying the World’s electro-magnetic field. It is part of an arsenal of “electronic weapons” which US military researchers consider a “gentler and kinder warfare”.

WEAPONS OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER

HAARP is part of the weapons arsenal of the New World Order under the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI). From military command points in the US, entire national economies could potentially be destabilized through climatic manipulations. More importantly, the latter can be implemented without the knowledge of the enemy, at minimal cost and without engaging military personnel and equipment as in a conventional war. The use of HAARP-if it were to be applied-could have potentially devastating impacts on the World’s climate.

Responding to US economic and strategic interests, it could be used to selectively modify climate in different parts of the World resulting in the destabilization of agricultural and ecological systems. It is also worth noting that the US Department of Defense has allocated substantial resources to the development of intelligence and monitoring systems on weather changes. NASA and the Department of Defense’s National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) are working on “imagery for studies of flooding, erosion, land-slide hazards, earthquakes, ecological zones, weather forecasts, and climate change” with data relayed from satellites.

POLICY INERTIA OF THE UNITED NATIONS

According to the Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) signed at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro:

“States have, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of international law, the responsibility to ensure that activities within their jurisdiction or control do not cause damage to the environment of other States or of areas beyond the limits of national jurisdiction.”

It is also worth recalling that an international Convention ratified by the UN General Assembly in 1997 bans “military or other hostile use of environmental modification techniques having widespread, long-lasting or severe effects.” Both the US and the Soviet Union were signatories to the Convention. The Convention defines “environmental modification techniques” as referring to any technique for changing-through the deliberate manipulation of natural processes-the dynamics, composition or structure of the earth, including its biota, lithosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere or of outer space.” Why then did the UN-disregarding the 1977 ENMOD Convention as well as its own charter-decide to exclude from its agenda climatic changes resulting from military programs?

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT ACKNOWLEDGES IMPACT OF HAARP

In February 1998, responding to a report of Mrs. Maj. Britt Theorin-Swedish MEP and longtime peace advocate–, the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, Security and Defense Policy held public hearings in Brussels on the HAARP program. The Committee’s “Motion for Resolution” submitted to the European Parliament: “Considers HAARP by virtue of its far-reaching impact on the environment to be a global concern and calls for its legal, ecological and ethical implications to be examined by an international independent body; [the Committee] regrets the repeated refusal of the United States Administration to give evidence to the public hearing into the environmental and public risks [of&] the HAARP program.”

The Committee’s request to draw up a “Green Paper” on “the environmental impacts of military activities”, however, was casually dismissed on the grounds that the European Commission lacks the required jurisdiction to delve into “the links between environment and defense”.  Brussels was anxious to avoid a showdown with Washington.

FULLY OPERATIONAL

While there is no concrete evidence of HAARP having been used, scientific findings suggest that it is at present fully operational. What this means is that HAARP could potentially be applied by the US military to selectively modify the climate of an “unfriendly nation” or “rogue state” with a view to destabilizing its national economy. Agricultural systems in both developed and developing countries are already in crisis as a result of New World Order policies including market deregulation, commodity dumping, etc. Amply documented, IMF and World Bank “economic medicine” imposed on the Third World and the countries of the former Soviet block has largely contributed to the destabilization of domestic agriculture. In turn, the provisions of the World Trade Organization (WTO) have supported the interests of a handful of Western agri-biotech conglomerates in their quest to impose genetically modified (GMO) seeds on farmers throughout the World.

It is important to understand the linkage between the economic, strategic and military processes of the New World Order. In the above context, climatic manipulations under the HAARP program (whether accidental or deliberate) would inevitably exacerbate these changes by weakening national economies, destroying infrastructure and potentially triggering the bankruptcy of farmers over vast areas. Surely national governments and the United Nations should address the possible consequences of HAARP and other “non-lethal weapons” on climate change.

Learning Technologies in Adult Education

style=”text-align:justify;”>
It is a continuous process of reflection, analysis and experimentation. The education will be driven by the motivation gained by the learner through the need to achieve their objectives in order to be successful in life.

The process of adult learning has seen its development as a different entity in the educational context of modern world. It distinguish it self from the rest of the learning scenarios and had introduced multitude of teaching learning methodologies as well as techniques. In recent times the technology seems to have grasped the focus of attention as the new era in adult education. Out of which, online learning has lot to offer in the future.

Online learning being a technology that is accessible by most of the individuals in the modern era has replaced the other distance learning modalities and had come a long way since its initiations. The student centered nature of the learning style as well as various interesting modes of interaction had paved the way for the adult learner to explore and enter into domain which was not possible in the pre technology era. Incorporation of digital instructional material not only made it possible to deliver knowledge through networks but also made it possible to attract the adult learners with of all learning styles. Presentations, PDFs, streaming videos, audio files, and simulations are few to be named in the emerging technology savvy educational environments.

The success in adult learning through online medium was mainly due to its flexible learning styles which is possible to be adopted by individual learners. It also gave rise to virtual class rooms and already is in the preliminary stages of virtual universities.

The online learning further evolves to become m-learning or mobile learning which takes the learning process to the work place or to remote destinations which are unreachable and adults are less enthusiastic in proceeding with further education. The cost effectiveness has played a vital part in its implementation and further expansion.

The new concepts in modern day adult learning such as ‘just in time learning’ is facilitated by these learning technologies and in the future more learning would be possible in the virtual environment that not even possible to imagine at this point of time.

Apart from online learning self learning study packs are available in most professional exams and the design and interaction process of such systems have encouraged more adult learners to seek knowledge and increase their effectiveness as well as versatility.

Dos And Donts Of Emergency Warning Lights

An emergency warning light is utilized by autos engaged in time-sensitive tasks such as law enforcement or emergency rescue.  Construction autos as well as the like deploy similar lights so that you can alert everybody to their presence.  This type of light is not an emergency warning light per se, though several drivers will give them a wide berth and afford them other courtesies of the road, such as is often the case with escort vehicles or those transports bearing oversized loads.  These utility lights are often amber or yellow in colour, even though inside the United States local regulations figure out the specific characteristics of such signals.  For example, in some jurisdictions white lights are used too, or instead.

A private car’s emergency light system signals to fellow motorists one’s own intent, and is nowadays monitored by personal computer systems that store “trouble codes” which may be downloaded by scanner tools accessible at an auto mechanic’s shop.  These codes give technicians a good indication of where to begin searching when trying to determine the fundamental trouble(s).  For private automobiles, lights are the only means of communication about the road, while those belonging to law enforcement as well as the like are often equipped with not only lights and sirens but public announcement systems at the same time.  Thus it is all the more essential for car owners to make sure that their lights work!

At sea and in the air lights also play really essential roles, though nowadays secondary to that occupied by radio and radar.  But mention emergency warning lights and most individuals will automatically consider about those on autos driven by law enforcement or emergency rescue personnel.  Most such designs feature a strobe effect that further commands attention.

In use since the 1960s, the strobe lights are what folks believe of when they image police cars and fire trucks.  Interestingly, this kind of emergency lighting is slowly being replaced by LED technology, just as it had previously replaced halogen lights.  LED lights are superior for a number of reasons having to do with luminosity and cost, although one curious complaint against old strobe lights come from none other than police offers who claim that the blue color reserved for use by law enforcement actually hurt their night-vision!

Whatever the underlying technologies and no matter the color, it’s a certainty that emergency lights will continue to be utilized as a means of communication about the road, at sea, and in the air. But obviously there is a difference between the two so ensuring that it complies with the law is extremely suggested. We don’t want anything bad to happen although an emergency is in effect. Unless it’s something local, this could be recognized by the law as an imitation which is not great at all and needless to say they will attempt to apprehend whoever imitates sirens without evidence that it’s only emergency lights. Better safe than sorry.
